Sauerland Apple Pie




For the dough:

  • 200 g of butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 100 g sugar
  • 300 g flour
  • 2 tsp of baking soda

For the filling:

  • 10 - 12 appples
  • 3 - 4 sachets of vanilla sugar
  • some lemon juice
  • some cinnamon



Approximately Peel, quarter and core ten to twelve apples and cut into slives of apple slices. Mix in three or four packets of vanilla sugar and place the apples in the baking pan (so much that the shape is filled to about 1 cm below the edge.)

Roll the remaining dough with some flour to a lid and place on the apples.

Bake at 160 degrees Celsius for about 45 minutes until the cake is golden brown. Sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving.
